Album Credits - Palomino Diaz "Ese Soy Yo"

Nací en la provincia de Pinar del Rio en la isla de Cuba. Como adolescente aprendi la guitarra
con Pepe Besú. al mismo tiempo que me nutria musicalmente del amigo Octavio Gutierrez,
músico y compositor. Bajo el influjo de la música “pop” de los años finales de los sesenta se
fundó el grupo Los Golpes, el cual tuvo la aceptación del público a conocer mis primeras
canciones. Años mas tarde obtuve premios en los concursos más importantes de Cuba (Premio
Creador Musical, Premio Festival de Musica Cubana Pedro Junco y Premio de La Música Popular
Cubana Adolfo Guzman). El 24 de octubre del 1997 llegué a los Estados Unidos. Un tiempo
después, cantando en el restaurant Tequila Sunrise conocí al productor, músico y compositor
Will Edwards, amigo, hermano y el cual comenzó a producer mi primer CD, Ese soy yo.
Agradezco haber contado con los brillantes y talentosos músicos quienes contribuyeron sin
lucro absoluto a este proyecto de mi vida y a Nicole Chirino, José Negroni, Arturo Sandoval
y Nestor Torres. Este CD recibe la maestria del arreglista y amigo Christian Valencia. A
todo el staff de Sprockets Music y todos los que han contribuido a lograr la produccion de
este CD, reciban todos el abrazo de mi alma y mi agradecimiento a manos llenas. Tambien
reciben el agadecimiento mis nietas Cathy y Carola, mis hijos Merlyn y Alian, mi yerno Cesar

I was born on the island of Cuba in the province of Pinar del Rio. I learned to play guitar as an
adolescent and was greatly influenced by “pop” music. In the late seventies I founded
“Los Golpes” performing my earliest compositions. Years later I was the recipient of some of
Cuba’s most prestigious music awards. I arrived in the U.S. on October 24, 1997. Soon afterward
while playing at a restaurant, I met musician, songwriter, producer Will Edwards, a friend and
brother, who began to produce my first CD, Ese Soy Yo. I’m greatful for the brilliant and talented
musicians who contributed to this project. In addition, I thank Nicolle Chirino, Jose Negroni,
Arturo Sandoval and Nestor Torres for their performances, Christian Valencia for his arrangements,
the entire staff of Sprockets Music, my grandchildren, my children, my parents and my brothers

I first heard Palomino at a restaurant in Miami where he was singing table to table. I was stunned
when he told me the songs he was singing were his original compositions. I resolved at that
moment to help create a record for this extraordinay Cuban singer/songwriter who had never
had the opportunity to achieve the professional recognition that he deserved. Palomino’s songs
and his interpretations of them reflect his love of life, his romantic and untainted spirit and his
relentless belief in all that is beautiful and good. The production of the album was a labor of love
for all involved and the result is a tribute to a great artist.

I want to thank all of the musicians and engineers who participated on this recording. This
record is the result of all of your time and love. It’s been six years in the making and there
have been quite a few hands that have touched it. One final thank you to my family for helping
me be in the right place to make a record like this one. A special thanks to John Redmond for
sharing my vision.

I dedicate this record to my good friend and mentor, Tom Dowd, who gave me the piano that
ultimately inspired me to make this record. Will Edwards, Executive Producer.
